We bought our home in July 2003,
and have never looked back! Our home is a modest, comfortable 3 bedroom/2
bathroom home in Sunridge Woods, close to the theme parks and golf courses.
In the 4 years that we have owned,
it we have learnt:
You can't please everybody
Be careful with your description
Be honest about your home
Keep it well maintained - (money
spent in maintenance is money well spent!)
Reply to emails and enquiries as
soon as possible
You will spend a lot of time &
effort helping someone, to find that they book elsewhere
Be cheerful, helpful and wish
them well - they may not book this time, but they will remember you and may
recommend you to others
Pay your management bills on
time - they will go out of their way to keep you and look after you
In today's climate, don't expect
your rentals to cover all your costs - even if you have a new home with a
rental deal for 2 years, start thinking immediately about what happens when
that deal is over.
There is no need to spend a
fortune on advertising (been there, done that!) stick with good, reputable
websites and try all the freebies that you can. Although beware, as
being on too many sites can be a turn off for some guests. We will be
adding a list of good websites soon.
These comments are based on our
own experience - we know that there are many owners out there who have been
renting far longer than us and have even more information that may help all of
us.
